Medical Acupuncture

Medical acupuncture is a therapeutic technique of placing sterile stainless steel needles in specific points in the body. These needles stimulate peripheral nerves and increase blood flow locally to promote healing. Acupuncture can reduce pain signals and help to reduce nervous system tone.

Electric stimulation may be added to enhance the desired effects. This stimulates the specific nerves and muscles. You may feel a twitch in the area the needles are placed.

Typical conditions Acupuncture can treat:

  • Repetitive strains (tennis elbow, golfers elbow, carpal tunnel)
  • Acute sprains/strains
  • Pain from nerve entrapments
  • Postoperative pain
  • Chronic pain
  • Sports Injuries
  • Arthritis

Your medical acupuncture provider will go through a comprehensive history and physical exam to determine if acupuncture is right for you.
